a brief, Pragmatic and relaxing approach, needs-focused and practical

Psychotherapy

All humans have emotional needs as well as physical ones.
Fortunately we can deal with our physical needs quite easily (for example: we’re thirsty so we drink some water, or we are tired so we sleep).

And although out physical needs are usually quite straightforward – our emotional needs can get out of balance without us even being aware of it!  Especially when we’re already stressed, overwhelmed or anxious.

For example – we can feel out of sorts, but then realise that we haven’t connected with another person for ages.
Or we feel on edge – but then we realise that actually our status is being challenged or we feel undermined.
Or maybe you’ve been feeling down for a while, and it’s only when you think about it you realise that you’ve been feeling underappreciated or even neglected for years!

All these are enough on their own to make us feel down and low.
But when you add in anxiety, depression, grief, change, uncertainty or trauma, the our emotional needs can get pushed even further to the back of the bus!

My approach is to support you through your situation, helping you gain vital skills that will help you in future.

Often our work together will be surprisingly relaxing, using guided imagery and calming techniques and you’ll gain access to resources that you might have long forgotten – the healing power of sleep and breathing and connection, for example.

Together we can work through past and ongoing challenges, bringing key processes into the mix to help you not only manage the current situation – but for you to enjoy even more resourcefulness and resilience into the future!

I offer a brief inital no-charge and no-obligation consultation, so if you’d like to find out more, we can have a short discussion to check that this is the sort of therapy that you’d like.

access your inner sage, give space to your  wisdom and make the changes you want

Coaching

Above all else, the coaching process is designed to give you space and time to think.  It’s a rare and precious time for you – and it’s usually rich with opportunities to create goals, rehearse and identify how best to proceed.

By asking you a series of skillful and coaching-relevant questions, you will unlock your inner sage, and access your own inner wisdom. Because nobody knows more about your own life than you!

Coaching is done from the perspective that you truly do have all the answers already – it is just that somewhere in the stress and pace of modern life, those answers have been forgotten.

My coaching approach is solution focused.  That means we are not going to be dragging up past events or moments that you feel uncomfortable with – we are going to be working with our eyes on the prize, taking you from where you are now, to where you want to be, and identifying the best possible intervention or action to get you there.

relax your mind to connect with ideas and perspectives that can set you free.

Hypnotherapy

Far from being an unusual state, hypnosis is actually simply a natural state of awareness or trance.  It’s something that we all experience every night as we sleep, and sometimes even when we are in the “flow” – be that the flow of a hijacked emotion, or the flow of enjoying our work.

The use of hypnosis in therapy (Hypnotherapy) simply provides an opportunity to relax our mind so deeply that we can communicate with our unconscious mind – the part of us that is driven by emotions or triggered by events.

By allowing that relaxed and calm communication, we can work to help the unconscious mind understand and achieve results that you may want, for example feeling calmer when you might normally be stressed, or to work to support smoking cessation, weight loss or anxiety reduction.
Hypnotherapy is a relaxing and enjoyable therapy, where although you may be totally relaxed, you are still in control of your conscious actions, so you will only do what you want to do. Nothing more.

A typical hypnotherapy client would enjoy a 90 minute fact-finding consultation, which includes a light relaxation session.  This would be followed with 60-minute hypnotherapy sessions on a different day/week.  Sometimes an issue will be resolved swiftly within just 3 or 4 sessions.

So – what’s Integrative Hypnotherapy?

Integrative Hypnotherapy brings together a range of tools and techniques to support you, the client, and get your needs met.

It may well be that I offer you a little psycho-educational training in specific areas that will support your needs, for example how to reframe your thinking so your beliefs can support you rather than pull you down.

As a Master Practitioner and trainer of NLP, I may use these techniques to help you.  (They are tried and tested tools that I have taught to many others over the years.)

Breathing is another area that can help us all – and I will offer ways to breathe and relax to help challenge anxiety, calm down nerves and even help you to sleep.
